Light Green Vase

Experiments with black in the backgrounds, gave a fresh look to the subject matter that was popular among patrons. With black, colours could become very intense, adding a dramatic feeling to the painting. Oil on canvas over board 6" x 8".

  1. Very nice and yes, very fresh. I love your loose, flowing strokes. That lemon on the blue plate is perfection!

  2. Successful experiment!!! Very nice. With these more strong colours it is emphasized the abstract quality of your paintings!
    It is a good way...
    Ciao Graziano

  3. Hello Alice,
    Very, very beautiful paintings!

  4. colori accesi e forti, sono lo specchio della felicità
complimenti per questo angolo di luce estiva

  5. Yes Alice, I covered over the right side of the painting with one hand, and it looks no where near as interesting as it does with the dark side.

  6. Hi Kim, Graziano, Antonio .... thankyou so much for your kind compliments.

Lovely words Graziella - you are a true poet !

Hi Frank .... I've found a painting with a totally black background - next post..... see what you think. I'm always interested in your comments.

  7. I am so glad to discover your blog, Alice! I just love your floral still lifes, they have a wonderful graphic appeal and fantastic color harmony! I will be back again soon.
